Georgian students protest against education law amendments

Students of Ilia State University in Georgia are protesting against the amendments to the law on higher education. Today they held a rally in front of the Ministry of Education.

The students demand that the bill submitted to the parliament should not be passed. According to the protesters, the prime minister should not be given the right to appoint the temporary acting rector.

Students lied down on the pavement in front of the ministry and covered themselves with a poster: "Do not take a law about us without us."

According to the students' demand, the autonomy of universities should not be limited. They are going to continue the protest until their demands are met.
