Case of Politkovskaya's murder suspect sent to court
Russian prosecutors have sent to court the case of a suspect in
the murder of prominent Russian investigative journalist Anna
Politkovskaya, Radio Liberty reported.
Former Interior Ministry officer Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov is one of six
suspects charged in connection with the 2006 killing.
Following a deal with prosecutors, Pavlyuchenkov will be tried
separately from the other suspects and the hearings will be held
without witnesses.
Politkovskaya's relatives said on Thursday they will ask the Moscow
City Court to reject the special arrangements for the trial.
Politkovskaya was shot dead in the hallway of her Moscow apartment
building on October 7, 2006.
She was known for her criticism of Russia's war in Chechnya and of
Putin's rule.
