Uzbekistan to build unique plant for fertilizers production

The chemical industry is one of the basic sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan. It was formed on the basis of the needs of the intensification of agricultural production by creating enterprises for the production of mineral fertilizers.

A unique fertilizer production plant for $ 600 million will be built in the Syrdarya region, Uzbek media reports.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the construction site of the ammonia and carbamide plant in Yangiyer on February 19.

The head of state got acquainted with information on the economic efficiency of the future enterprise and the schedule of construction work.

The Uzbek president gave relevant instructions to those in charge, noting the important role of the plant in meeting domestic demand and entering foreign markets.

Uzkimyosanoat together with the South Korean company Samsung Engineering. is implementing the project.

The plant will produce 400,000 tons of ammonia and 600,000 tons of carbamide per year. It is planned to install modern technologies from the U.S. and Japan and to create 500 permanent jobs.

A convenient place was chosen for the construction of the plant, there are necessary communications with access to gas, electricity and water supply, roads and railways.

"There is nowhere else such a favorable infrastructure as in Syrdarya. These opportunities will help the construction and stable operation of the plant, increase attractiveness in the eyes of investors. This is a very profitable, promising project," stressed Mirziyoyev.

Syrdarya is one of the central regions of Uzbekistan. It is located on the left side of the Syr Darya - one of the longest rivers in Central Asia.

The region was formed on February 16, 1963.

Syrdarya region covers an area of 4,300 square km, which is almost 10 percent of the total territory of Uzbekistan.

The northern neighbor of the region is Kazakhstan, the south-east is Tajikistan, in the east the region borders with the Tashkent region, and in the west - with Jizzakh.

Enterprises of JSC Uzkimyosanoat produced marketable products with a growth rate of 104.1 percent in January-August 2018.

Mineral fertilizers produced in the amount of 780,500 tons, including nitrogen - 567,800 tons, phosphate - 92,000 tons and potash fertilizers 120,800 tons.
