Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov has conducted a routine check of the combat training of subdivisions and military units on the frontline, the Defense Ministry reported.

At a meeting with military personnel who are on duty in the trenches face to face with the enemy, Hasanov spoke about tasks set by the Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev to the army, the Ministry said.

“Headquarters and commander composition of the Defense Ministry conducts frequent meetings with the military personnel on the front line in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State. Our main goal is to inquire about the general state of the soldiers and officers, the level of combat training of military units and to inform the staff of relevant instructions and recommendations,” the minister said.

He went on to add that today Azerbaijan is far ahead of its opponent in the economy, budget, demographic situation, military power, and a number of other options. These facts are also recognized by the political leadership of the aggressor Armenia.

“All this is the result of a consistent policy by Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev. Thanks to the attention paid to the army, our armed forces are several times greater than army of the enemy in their military equipment, including the quality of aircraft, helicopters and artillery systems, the number of personnel and military determination,” Hasanov said.

“Military-political leadership of Armenia still cannot recover from the strike of the opponent from last August until the present day. Now the enemy is in fear and panic. The moment has arrived. Patience is running out for our people, the people who lost their homes demand us to act for the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from the occupation,” he said.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s. Long-standing efforts by U.S, Russian, and French mediators have been largely fruitless so far.

As a result of the military aggression of Armenia, over 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed, 4,866 are reported missing, almost 100,000 were injured, and 50,000 were disabled.

The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions on Armenia’s withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory, but they have not been enforced to this day.

“Most of the decisions taken by international organizations prove us right. Our people must know that Azerbaijani soldiers cannot imagine this country without Shusha, Lachin, other occupied towns and villages. All personnel of the Armed Forces are living with feelings of revenge and victory over the enemy, willing and able to perform their sacred duty to liberate its native lands. Azerbaijani soldiers, relying on their own forces, will restore the territorial integrity of the country. Let no one doubt it,” the minister added.

Hasanov gave instructions to the commanding staff to increase focus on military training, taking into account difficult terrain, and to be on high alert, including bringing units to the combat readiness during the war.

The defense minister checked the stability of the line of defense at the front, the capacity of firing by troops, the state of engineering and fortifications in the area, the organization of logistics for personnel at posts and positions, and the complete preparation of equipment.

The visit of the minister to frontline regions is ongoing.
