The 65th anniversary of establishment of the People's Republic of China was marked with a solemn ceremony in Baku, as the Chinese embassy has arranged an official reception to mark the national holiday.

An exhibition reflecting Chinese culture has been arranged during the reception.

Ambassador Hong Jiuyin spoke of China's development, adding his country has achieved great progress in the economy and culture.

Jiuyin said Azerbaijan and China were reliable partners and friends, and that China praises Azerbaijan`s beneficial cooperation and friendship.

The diplomat expressed his confidence the relations between the two states will be further developed.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov, speaking on behalf of the Azerbaijani government, congratulated the participants and wished the Chinese people peace and prosperity.

China was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence, he said highlighting steadily developing bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Mammadov noted that the reciprocal visits and the documents signed have greatly contributed to further deepening relations between the two countries.

Azerbaijan and China permanently support each other on international organizations.

The minister also thanked China for support in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the principles and norms of international law.
