CMO head calls to strengthen fight against religious discord

Azerbaijan needs to strengthen its fight against inter-faith and religious discord.
Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade made the remark at a meeting with representatives of the religious communities in Shaki on March 14.
He noted the inadmissibility of use of the religion for personal purposes.
Pashazade called on religious leaders to take into account the activity of non-traditional religious movements in the region.
The CMO Gazi Council has recently warned against any misinterpretation of Islam by extremist groups.
In a fatwa, the Council referred to recent misuses of sacred concepts in Islam like Jihad and Martyrdom by extremists adding that, biased interpretation of these concepts would tarnish Islam's image.
