Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) believes that the consolidation of Muslims is important in fighting any attempt to use religion for personal purposes.

Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh made the remark at the "Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies" international conference in Abu Dabhi, CMO reported.

Pashazade noted that Islam attaches great importance to dialogue among civilizations and multiculturalism, which is important for establishing peace in the world.

He went on to say that as a result of the discord within the Islamic community, conflicts continue in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine, which is a matter of concern.

Pashazade said the Azerbaijani Muslims were also subjected to the Armenian aggression, 20 percent of their country was occupied, and genocide was committed in Khojaly.

"In this difficult period, brotherly Muslim countries and some international Islamic organizations have shown solidarity with Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijani people welcome their support in bringing the realities of the country to the attention of the international community, and thank them," he stressed.

Pashazade noted that one of the most important ways to reach peace in the Islamic community is the unity that can be seen in the Azerbaijani society, where understanding and unity reign.

"This was made possible by the wise and far-sighted policy of national leader Heydar Aliyev. President Ilham Aliyev has successfully continued this policy. I hope that these traditions, peace and stability, will prevail in all Islamic societies," he concluded.
