Azerbaijani official meets UK House of Commons member

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov has met a delegation led by member of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, chairman of the UK-Azerbaijani interparliamentary group Christopher Pincher.

The British MP expressed confidence that his visit would contribute to expanding cooperation between the two countries.

Khalafov said that Azerbaijan and the UK were strategic partners, and Azerbaijan was interested in strengthening bilateral relations with the UK. He also praised the cooperation of Azerbaijan with Great Britain in implementation of oil projects in the Caspian Sea.

Speaking about the regional projects of Azerbaijan, Khalafov underlined the country`s role in the regional energy security.

Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the deputy FM said that Armenian aggressive policy was a barrier in settlement of the dispute.

The British MPs noted that they visited a residential area for refugees and IDPs, and expressed hope the Azerbaijan refugees would be repatriated to their homelands soon.

The British delegation hailed Azerbaijan`s role in struggle against terrorism in the South Caucasus.
