Russian MP praises Azerbaijan's contribution to World War II victory

Azerbaijan made an invaluable contribution to the victory over fascism in World War II, deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma's committee Dmitry Saveliyev said.
The people are united on the territory of the former Soviet Union and this will continue, he told journalists in Baku.
"The Soviet people suffered huge losses during the war and the Azerbaijani oil has made an invaluable contribution to the victory over fascism," he said.
He added that today Baku is a beautiful city, one of the cities of the former Soviet Union which causes palpitations. "One feels unity whilst visiting this city."
He also stressed the activity of the Russian-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Group.
"This group is actively working and regularly holding mutual meetings and exchanging experience," he said. "We plan to take further measures in the development and integration, as our people are fraternal. One must not forget this."
Savelyev is a member of the Russian delegation, which arrived in Baku in connection with the celebration of the Victory Day.
