Great Return in progress: 23 more families on their way to Lachin City
In accordance with the order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the return of former IDPs to the reconstructed town of Lachin continues, Azernews reports.
Another migration caravan left the Gobu Park 3 residential complex in Baku's Garadagh district on 13 July. At this stage, 23 more families - 85 people - have been resettled to Lachin town.
The resettled families will settle in the houses they lived in Lachin, which were restored or rebuilt on behalf of the head of state after the end of the occupation.
As a result of the victory gained by the courageous Azerbaijani army under the leadership of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the IDPs were able to return to their homeland voluntarily, safely, and with dignity after 30 years.
Residents of Lachin city, which has become more beautiful and improved, expressed gratitude to the President, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, courageous Azerbaijani Army, our heroic soldiers and officers who saved our lands from occupation, for being surrounded by comprehensive state care, and honored the memory of our martyrs who fell on the way.
Representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, the special representative office of the President of Azerbaijan in Lachin district, which is part of the East Zangazur economic district, and the executive power of Lachin district took part in the ceremony of sending the families to Lachin region.
The issue of the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of internally displaced persons to their native lands has been identified as a major challenge.
Work on the revival of territories liberated from occupation is increasingly accelerating, and the Great Return Programme is being implemented.
At the same time, 93 families, i.e. 351 persons, were permanently settled in the Lachin region.
