Azerbaijani deputy minister elected deputy chair of 30th session of FAO Regional Conference for Europe
Azerbaijan`s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilham Guliyev has been elected deputy chair of the 30th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe held in Antalya, Turkey, Azertac reports.
The three-day session discussed FAO`s activities and priorities for Europe and Central Asia, as well as the organization`s plan of action and budget for 2016-2017.
On the sidelines of the session the Azerbaijani delegation met with FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva. The FAO chief stressed the role of president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva in the expansion of cooperation between the government of Azerbaijan and the organization. He also spoke of FAO`s cooperation with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Union.
Mr Graziano da Silva hailed the role of vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, FAO goodwill ambassador Leyla Aliyeva in implementation of FAO`s aims and missions on global, regional and national levels.
Deputy Minister Guliyev highlighted the Azerbaijani government’s work to develop the agrarian sector and ensure food security in Azerbaijan.
