Azerbaijan's national Novruz holiday was celebrated in Germany's capital on March 23-24, Azerbaijani Embassy said.

The traditional Novruz events were held for the third time this year in Berlin by the embassies of the countries that celebrate the Novruz holiday.

This year, the event was held with the collaboration of the embassies of Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan accredited in Germany, and with the support of the German Foreign Ministry.

The Novruz festivities were launched at one of the prestigious museums of Europe - the Museum of Ethnology in Berlin- on March 23.

The representatives of the participant countries performed their national music at the event.

Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble represented the country at the Novruz event, and Azerbaijani dancers performed the national dance tunes, which received thunderous applauses from the participants.

The Novruz festivities continued on March 24 at the residence of the Turkish embassy in Berlin.

Under an agreement reached between embassies, the traditional Berlin Novruz festivities will be celebrated at the diplomatic missions of co-organizer countries in Germany's capital by turn in the coming years.

During the festivities, the co-organizer countries presented their sweets and other culinary samples, cultural materials, as well as materials reflecting the traditions of celebrating Novruz in these countries to the guests.

About two thousand people attended the holiday program at the Berlin Ethnology Museum, and five hundred guests participated at the event held in the Turkish Embassy in Germany.
