Preparations are underway for the upcoming meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran as Baku plans to host the presidential in August.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s possible visit to Baku in August to participate in the tripartite meeting with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Iran is being considered, Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian president, said.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani plans to visit Azerbaijan in August to take part in a trilateral meeting with Azerbaijani and Russian counterparts Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, Iranian Tasnim news agency reported July 6.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Ilham Aliyev during this two-day visit to Azerbaijan, Tasnim news agency reported.

The report added that Ilham Aliyev and Hassan Rouhani will review agreements made earlier between Tehran and Baku.

Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan may sign new trilateral agreements, the agency suggested.

Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran earlier called for expansion of cooperation in economic, political and security issues. Particular attention was paid to the prospects of the project of creating a transport corridor "North-South", which will connect Europe and Asia, passing through the territory of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran.
