Chairman of the Jordanian Senate has said Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should find its fair solution.

Abdelraouf al-Rawabdeh, who is on a visit to Baku to attend the second Global Shared Societies Forum, told journalists on April 28.

The second Global Shared Societies Forum kicked off in Azerbaijani capital Baku on April 28. The forum is being attended by over 150 prominent public and political figures from 54 countries, former heads of states and governments, who are the members of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, Club of Rome and Club of Madrid.

Expressing his country's position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, al-Rawabdeh noted that Jordan opposed to any act of aggression and voted in favor of UN Security Council resolution adopted on Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Jordan has also been subjected to occupation. We oppose aggression in any country worldwide," al-Rawabdeh underlined.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict emerged in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Since a lengthy war in the early 1990s that displaced over one million Azerbaijanis, Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions.

The UN Security Council's four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal have not been enforced to this day.

Peace talks, mediated by Russia, France and the U.S. through the OSCE Minsk Group, are underway on the basis of a peace outline proposed by the Minsk Group co-chairs and dubbed the Madrid Principles. The negotiations have been largely fruitless so far.
