Talks on priorities of Scientific Center of Azerbaijan and Caucasian Studies in London

Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University's Baku Branch Nargiz Pashayeva has paid a visit to the Oriental Institute of the University of Oxford and met with Professor Edmund Herzig in London.

The sides discussed the issues related to the Scientific Center for Azerbaijan and Caucasian Studies after Nizami Ganjavi at the University of Oxford, which was set up in October 2013 by Professor Pashayeva and the Oriental Institute of the University of Oxford in London.

They also discussed the upcoming visit of several professors at the University of Oxford to Azerbaijan this summer at the invitation of Baku branch of the Moscow State University.

During the visit, the professors will hold discussions with their Azerbaijani counterparts give lectures on the country's scientific community and visit historical landmarks.

Together with Professor Pashayeva, Herzig initiated the establishment of the Scientific Center of Azerbaijan and Caucasian Studies after Nizami Ganjavi at the University of Oxford.

Works are underway to define priorities of the Center which is widely praised as a long-term and monumental project with great scientific resources development prospects.

The Research Center of Azerbaijan and Caucasiology at the University of Oxford is the first research center that will study the history and culture of Azerbaijan and the Caucasus region.

The Centre is designed to conduct researches and to hold conferences and cultural projects at the University of Oxford.

The Centre will collect scientific information related to Azerbaijan on a regular basis, with the subsequent formation of resources and library fund, and prepare a calendar of events and researches on Azerbaijan.

Nizami Ganjavi, the greatest representative of Eastern Renaissance in the 12th century, displayed in his poetry the quintessence of world literature and philosophy through the aesthetic power of his art.
