Azerbaijani delegation attends celebration of Day of Wojciech in Polish city
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Adalat Valiyev has participated in a celebration of the Day of Wojciech in Gniezno, Poland.
The delegation first visited European college under II Johan Pavel of the Adam Mickiewicz University.
Principal Leszek Mrozewicz informed the Azerbaijani delegation on the activity of the college. He said the college pays special importance to foreign relations, adding "cooperation with Azerbaijan can be very useful for us".
Adalat Valiyev spoke of ongoing educational reforms in Azerbaijan.
Attending the event, Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Poland, Hasan Hasanov, hailed development of bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields, including educational ones.
During the meeting, they agreed on establishment of ties between the European college under II Johan Pavel of the Adam Mickiewicz University and Azerbaijani universities.
Later, the Azerbaijani delegation attended a celebrative event organized at a secondary school named after Wojciech.
Delivering a speech at the event, mayor of the Gniezno, Jacek Kowalski, said Azerbaijan-Poland relations have 540-year history, adding the Azerbaijani delegation`s participation in the event is a vivid evidence of the high level relations between the two countries.
Kowalski stressed national leader Heydar Aliyev`s role in rapid development of the Azerbaijan-Poland relations.
The celebrative event continued in front of the Swięty Wojciech monument. Speakers at the event praised participation of the Azerbaijani delegation and described it as "historic event".
They also put flowers at the monument.
The event also featured a meeting at the Gniezno City council.
Deputy Minister Valiyev also met religious leader of Poland Iozef Kovalczik.
Valiyev presented the religious leader with a medal made by Azerbaijan`s embassy to the country on the 540-year diplomatic relationship between the two countries, as well as 14 books about Azerbaijan published in Polish.
