Mehriban Aliyeva awarded 'Patroness of Turkic Culture' title
Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the title of "Patroness of the Turkic Culture" for protection and promotion of Turkic culture.
The Azerbaijani First Lady was awarded this title as a result of "Serving the Turkic World - 2012" poll held upon the initiative of the Turkistan newspaper with support from some 20 organizations.
Chief Editor of Turkistan, Chairman of Common Values Public Union Agil Jamal said that the poll held in three categories - culture, education and politics appealed to respondents to express their views on the process of integration among Turkic states.
A total of 37,525 respondents participated in the poll. The respondents indicated names of some 60 persons and entities on three nominations. They included well-known political, scientific and cultural figures, members of parliament, masters of art and journalists.
