Chair of Azerbaijan Constitutional Court attends international conference in Batumi
An Azerbaijani delegation headed by chair of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev has participated in an international conference “Constitutional justice in transitional democracy: success and challenges of constitutional review in Georgia and Eastern Europe” in Batumi, Azertac reported. The conference marked the 20th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.
Participants in the conference included chair of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Deputy Chair of the European Court of Human Rights, Deputy Chair of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, chairs and judges of constitutional courts of several European countries.
They debated the legal issues of the use of international agreements and decisions of the European Court of Human Rights in the work of constitutional courts, appeals to constitutional court, and interpretation of legislation.
Abdullayev addressed the conference to provide an insight into how Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court deals with appeals of general jurisdiction courts.
On the sidelines of the conference, Abdullayev held meetings with his counterparts from several countries to discuss cooperation issues.
