Baku revives "Passage"
By Laman Ismayilova
A special exhibition shop of wonderful paintings has been opened at the Fountain Square, also known as the Targovoya Street, in Baku, Trend Life reported.
The exhibition features the paintings, depicting views of old Baku, landscape, life, subject composition, portrait etc.
The expo entitled “Passage" was devoted to the shops once operating here. Then, the place was one of the most visited destinations of foreign and local tourists, where tourists could find unique souvenirs, jewelry, paintings and books in different languages.
Passages are popular commercial buildings in the European architecture of the second half of the 19th century, where stores are located in tiers along the sides of a wide pass-gallery with glazed ceiling.
A time-honored tradition has been restored in Baku upon the organization of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Azerbaijan State Art gallery.
