A concert of Azerbaijani music has been held at the Verona Arena amphitheater in the Italian city of Verona.

The concert entitled "Along the Silk Road with Music" was co-organized by the Azerbaijan Culture and Tourism Ministry and the country's Embassy in Rome.

The concert was attended by Italian state and government officials, parliamentarians, representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps, culture figures from both countries, tourists and Verona residents.

Addressing the audience prior to the concert, Mayor of Verona Flavio Tosi described the event as "a strong signal of expanding Azerbaijani-Italian relations and close cultural ties between the two nations".

Azerbaijani Ambassador in Rome Vagif Sadigov said the concert was a brilliant opportunity to promote Azerbaijani music in Verona.

The concert featured performance of Italian Orchestra Italiana del Cinema symphonic orchestra and Karabakh mugham ensemble, as well as Azerbaijani singers Mansum Ibrahimov, Aygun Bayramova and Azer Rzazade.

It was conducted by Yalchin Adigozalov.

"For the first time, Azerbaijani and Italian musicians will perform together at this concert," Sadigov said.

He praised the assistance of the leadership of Veneto region and the city of Verona in organizing the concert.

Prominent Italian singer Albano Carrisi, who was a guest of honor at the concert, performed his popular hits.
