Presidential Administration says arrest of opposition members politicized
The arrest of Musavat Party Deputy Chairman Tofig Yagublu and
Real Movement Co-Chairman Ilgar Mammadov is being politicized by
some internal and external forces, Head of Azerbaijani Presidential
Administration's Social and Political Department Ali Hasanov
said.
"Everyone has to obey the laws of Azerbaijan. Appropriate
investigation will find out whether these people obey the laws or
not," Hasanov said.
Earlier Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office disseminated
information that Yagublu and Mammadov are charged of making calls
which are aimed at the violation of socio-political stability
during the Ismayilli events.
The report released by the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor
General's Office states that the investigation revealed Yagublu and
Mammadov, arriving in Ismayilli on Jan. 24, and calling on
residents of the region to violate the socio-political stability,
resist the police and block movement of vehicles.
