By Nigar Abbasova
Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev has resumed the output of oil products, which was earlier suspended due to scheduled repair works, SOCAR reported.
Catalytic cracking, primary processing, coking and catalytic reforming facilities have been commissioned, following the successful implementation of maintenance operations.
The works were implemented within the framework of the gradual reconstruction and modernization plan, which is expected to be continued until 2019-2020. The operations included implementation of technical servicing operations and analysis of conditions of equipment.
Some 3.14 million tons of petroleum products were produced in January-July 2016 as compared to the volume of 3.67 million tons in the same period of 2015. The processing capacity of the refinery will increase from 6 to 7.5 million tons per year after the reconstruction. Modernization process will allow the refinery to produce oil products that are in line with Euro 5 international standard.
Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, which is engaged in the production of light petroleum products, is processing 21 out of 24 grades of Azerbaijani crude and 15 different petroleum products, including automotive gasoline, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, black oil, and petroleum coke. The plant completely meets the entire demand for petroleum products in the country, while 45 percent of its petroleum products are exported.
