Kazakhstan, UK mull military coop

Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov discussed prospects
of military cooperation with his British counterpart Philip Hammond
in his official visit to London, the Kazakh ministry reported on
October 31.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and
prospects of further development in Kazakh-British military and
military-technical cooperation.
Dzhaksybekov said that the UK is Kazakhstan's strategic partner and
Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the development of
bilateral cooperation between the countries.
The sides also discussed the joint command-and-staff exercises of
the peacekeeping troops of the two countries, as well as furthering
bilateral cooperation in the field of military science.
According to the Ministry, Kazakhstan wants to study the British
experience in recruitment, personnel policy, training, budget
planning, and social security.
The Defense Ministers expressed their willingness to cooperate in
the mentioned spheres.
During his visit to London, the Kazakh minister also met with the
Chief of the UK Defence Staff General Sir Nicholas Houghton and
Chief of the UK General Staff-General Sir Peter Wall.
The main subject in the talks with British generals was the professionalization of the UK Armed Forces.
