The details of the expected reforms in the intelligence of Turkey have been revealed.

Turkey's National intelligence Organization (MIT) will have two divisions: external and internal intelligence, reported the Turkish newspaper Haber7 on Tuesday.

In addition, MIT will report directly to the President of Turkey, the newspaper said.

The decision was taken after the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkey held on August 1.

On the eve, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that a series of reforms will be carried within the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT).

The reforms are aimed to improve the intelligence service of Turkey. However, it is too early to say which model will be used for the exploration of the country, said Yildirim.

The Turkish authorities stated on a military coup attempt in the country in the evening of July 15. Meanwhile, a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them.

However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the death toll as a result of the military coup attempt stood at 246 people excluding the coup plotters and over 2,000 people were wounded.

Erdogan declared a three-month state of emergency in Turkey on July 20.
