Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs additional Patriot air-defense interceptors from the United States to withstand attacks during the coming winter, AzerNEWS reports.

In an interview with CNN, Zelenskyy stated Ukraine would need roughly 5% of the number of Patriot interceptor missiles currently available to the United States to help the country get through the winter. He stressed that receiving around 10% would allow Ukraine to significantly strengthen its defenses against ballistic missiles.

Zelenskyy described securing additional Patriot interceptors as one of the most important issues in his ongoing discussions with Ukraine’s allies.

According to him, Ukrainians continue to face daily air attacks, while large-scale missile strikes occur several times a month. Despite the constant threat, he said the Ukrainian people remain resilient but are increasingly exhausted by years of bombardment.

The Ukrainian president has repeatedly emphasized that air defense is critical to protecting civilians, energy infrastructure and other essential facilities.

CNN noted that the world is facing a shortage of missiles due to the US war with Iran.
