President Aliyev reviews Boeing-787-8 Dreamliner

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva have reviewed the newly-delivered Boeing-787-8 Dreamliner airplane, which belongs to the Azerbaijan Airlines.

President of the AZAL Jahangir Asgarov informed the head of state about the airplane at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The Boeing-787-8 is the most modern airplane in the world . The airplane uses 20 percent less fuel in comparison with other planes. The Dreamliner can carry 210 passengers on routes of 15,700 kilometers.

At the initial stage, the airplane will carry out flights from Baku to Beijing, London and other European countries. In summer 2015, the Dreamliner will start flights to New York.

Azerbaijan is the first country in the CIS using this airplane. The country received two Boeing B-787-8 Dreamliner airplanes in December 2014.

787 is a family of high-tech and ultra-efficient aircraft with new features that allow passengers to experience a good flight.

The instruction for AZAL’s staff on operating the new Boeing B-787-8 will be completed within the next two months. Then the aircraft will begin to provide services to passengers.

Currently, AZAL's fleet consists of Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-300, Airbus 319, Airbus A320, Airbus A340-500, Embraer ERJ 170-100LR and Embraer ERJ 190-100. The company cooperates with about 60 airlines to provide its passengers with an opportunity to travel leisurely around the world.

In 2015-2016 Azerbaijani cargo airline Silk Way Cargo - a subsidiary of Silk Way Airlines- is expected to buy 3 airliners Boeing 747-8.
