Top U.S. officials meet Azerbaijani opposition leaders

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Thomas Melia and U.S. Department of State representative Wendy Silverman met with chairmen of several Azerbaijani opposition parties at the U.S embassy in Baku on Tuesday, Trend news agency reported.
The Azerbaijani opposition was represented by the chairman of Citizen and Development Party, Ali Aliyev, chairman of the Umid party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of the Open Society party, Sulhaddin Akbar, chairman of Musavat party, Isa Gambar, chairman of Azerbaijan Liberal Party, Avaz Temirkhan, chairman of the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party, Ali Kerimli and representative of the so-called Public Chamber Mehriban Vezir, the Azerbaijani Citizen and Development Party said.
The future and the current state of U.S-Azerbaijani relations, the social and political situation in Azerbaijan, the upcoming presidential elections and issues related to democracy were discussed at the meeting.
