Monument to Heydar Aliyev in Makhachkala to become symbol of friendship
In the course of the meeting of the Operational Staff on ensuring the sustainability of the region's development taking into account external factors, the Mayor of Makhachkala Yusup Umavov spoke about the planned activities within the framework of the construction of a memorial complex, to outstanding Soviet and Azerbaijani political figure Heydar Aliyev and restoration of the monument to the Russian teacher in Makhachkala. Azernews reports, citing Operational Staff.
"The current foreign policy situation requires us to make maximum efforts to strengthen international relations and develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the post-Soviet states, with which we have established stable good-neighborly relations and have common historical destinies of peoples. This is especially true for our neighboring states, one of which is the Republic of Azerbaijan," the Mayor said.
Commenting on the restoration of the monument to the Russian teacher, Yusup Umavov said that repair works are planned to be completed this year. To date, the memorial is in an emergency condition, with partially destroyed elements of cladding, paneling of pylons, and fountains.
