Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to UN office in Geneva is among the nominees for Geneva Engage Award along the other international organizations.

The Geneva Engage Awards are handed out each year to the international organisations, non-governmental organisations, non-profits, and permanent missions that have been the most effective in their social media outreach and engagement. The selection for the award is based on DiploFoundation’s analysis of the innovative and effective use of social media in 2017.

The 3rd Annual Geneva Engage Award ceremony will be held on December 11.

Other nominees are the EU Delegation in Geneva, as well as permanent missions of France, Israel, the Netherlands and Sweden in Geneva.

Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Nations was established soon after the collapse of the Soviet Union and after Azerbaijan restored its independence.

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations was opened in New York on May 6, 1992 and in November 1992 the Permanent Mission of the United Nations to Azerbaijan was established in Baku.

Azerbaijan recognizes the leading role of the United Nations, first of all, in establishing and maintaining the international peace and security, as well as in sustainable development and democratization.

The country actively and effectively cooperates with a number of specialized UN agencies and bodies such as UNDP, UNICEF, UNHCR, UNESCO, UNCTAD, IAEA and etc.

Since joining the United Nations an 2 March 1992, Azerbaijan has consistently demonstrated its strong commitment to the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and international law and has staunchly supported the United Nations.
