Baku is hosting an exhibition displaying works by Lada Repina, an acclaimed young doll maker from Saint Petersburg, until April 29.

The exhibition called "Kingdom" was opened on the first opening anniversary of the Puppet Mastery Art Gallery known as "Kukla" in Baku on April 23.

Repina's dolls are already well known in Baku, as some of them are part of the "Kukla" gallery's collection.

This time Repina has prepared a unique collection of dolls under the heading "Kingdom" especially for Baku.

Repina had addressed this topic previously, in collections and in individual works. This new collection, combined with earlier works, is the result of hard work that significantly expands the scope of her "Kingdom" and takes it to a higher class of art and project.

Lada Repina's works may be characterized as art objects, however, in their presentation their creator does not seek to achieve narrow effect but rather a visual aesthetic.

As a rule, her works are displayed as collections to strengthen the intended theme. Each object with different angles of perception has its own unique meaning.

Color has a special role in her work. Rather than presenting a collection in a single palette of color, she counterbalances the effect of unity by complementing it with the form and nature of the play's characters.

Repina is a young, talented artist from Saint-Petersburg. She has participated in many significant exhibitions, including "Dolls as Literary and Theatrical Characters", "Christmas Exhibition", "The Image of Death in Art", "Monsters. Mythological creatures", "The Art of the Doll", "Shoe in Art" and others.

After graduating from the Saint-Petersburg Art College as a graphic designer, Repina continued her education in the same field at the Saint Petersburg Art and Industry Academy and completed it there in 2009. Her works are in held private collections in Russia, Azerbaijan, Spain, the US and Israel.

Among the works in the exhibition, there are also three works by Svetlana Pchelnikova, founder of the "Dolls' Space" private gallery, organizer of the International Doll Salon in Moscow and owner of the "The World of Dolls" magazine.
