Morricone illuminates Baku with famous music pieces

A two-hour concert by legendary Italian musician Ennio Morricone became a real joyful event for music lovers of Baku.

Morricone conducted a grand concert at Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku on January 25.

Magnificent Maestro conducted the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli. The orchestra was accompanied by the State Choir Capella.

Italian musicians Nanni Civitenga, Massimo D'Agostino, Antonello Maio, Leandro Piccioni, Rocco Zifarelli also made contribution to the concert. Singer Susanna Rigacci brightened the concert with lyric soprano.

Altogether, more than 200 musicians were involved in the grandiose music festival.

The audience enjoyed their favorite music from the famous movies such as "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", "Once in America", "Maddalena", "The Sicilian Clan", "Malena", and "The Untouchables".

Morricone is the Oscar award holder and multiple nominee, winner of the "Golden Globe" and the "Golden Lion", and the winner of the Venice Film Festival.

Talented composer, conductor and pianist, music legend Morricone, has performed encore his fascinating compositions for the several times.

The concert was organized by the "Buta" Center of Arts with the support of the Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Italian Embassy in Azerbaijan.

A long artistic career of Maestro includes a wide range of composition genres, from absolute music, which he has always produced, to applied music, working as orchestrator as well as conductor in the recording field, and then as a composer for theatre, radio and cinema. Morricone has conducted many orchestras worldwide.
