Naxtel to join IMEI registration system

In the near future, Naxtel, the mobile operator of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, will join the system of IMEI code registration for mobile phones, Trend reported.
Currently, operations on the integration of Naxtel system with the IMEI database are under preparation and evaluation.
“For integration into the overall system of IMEI code registration, the operator needs additional investment, and currently this question is a subject of debate,” a source in the telecommunication market of Azerbaijan said.
The connection to the system of IMEI code registration will allow the operator to obtain accurate information about the state of the mobile phone market. This includes the market volume, number of legally and illegally imported products.
The IMEI-code registration system for mobile phones in Azerbaijan was launched in May, 2013. The total number of devices that have passed the registration in the database is over 15 million.
Registration of mobile devices is available on the Electronic Government (e-gov.az) portal, on imei.az and Azerpost offices of the country. This service is provided all day long.
Everyone can test his/her IMEI number by visiting a special website, and calling the number 1677 to obtain more detailed information.
Mobile devices imported into Azerbaijan for private use should go through registration process within 30 days. However, tourists and visitors coming to the country, whose mobile phones has foreign SIM cards and roaming, can omit this procedure.
