AZAL to receive Boeing-787 Dreamliner in November

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), the biggest Azerbaijani airline and national flag carrier, will receive the first aircraft Boeing-787 Dreamliner in November, a source in AZAL told Trend.

The second Boeing-787 Dreamliner aircraft will be received in this December, the source said.

The exact date of arrival of the aircraft in Baku has not been fixed yet. "There are some speculated dates, but they are not fixed yet," he added.

Earlier, another source in AZAL reported that the airline may refute from purchasing these aircrafts because of a number of problems they faced before.

However, AZAL confirmed its intention to acquire the planes of this model.

Currently, AZAL's fleet consists of Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-300, Airbus 319, Airbus A320, Airbus A340-500, Embraer ERJ 170-100LR and Embraer ERJ 190-100.

AZAL have purchased two additional E190 jets of Brazilian Embraer. The relevant agreement worth $95.4 million was signed between the two companies in July.

As a regional and CIS leader in terms of the number of new aircrafts, AZAL offers its passenger flights to European countries, the CIS, Middle East, and Asia.

Moreover, AZAL introduced direct flights from New York's JFK Airport to Baku's Heydar Aliyev International Airport on September 24, 2014.

The company is cooperating with about 60 airlines to provide its passengers with an opportunity to travel freely around the world.
