Azerbaijan to apply Euro-3 standards to imported, domestically-made cars

Azerbaijan will apply Euro-3 environmental standards to both imported and domestically manufactured cars, Namig Tagiyev head of the Standards and Technical Regulations Department of State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents said on January 10.
The measure will take effect following the government's approval, Tagiyev added.
The State Committee for Standardization and State Customs Committee have jointly worked out the list of cars complying with Euro-3 standards, he noted.

Moreover, cars imported to Azerbaijan will be checked for engines matching Euro-3 standards. Only cars with engines matching the standards will be imported into the country.
The quality of fuel produced in Azerbaijan is expected to be brought up to Euro-3 standards by late 2014.
Currently, Euro-3 standards are applied to vehicles and related spare parts in Azerbaijan, as well as to fuel produced in the country.
