Tesla to recall over 2M China-made vehicles
Tesla Inc. will recall over 2 million vehicles made in China, the country's State Administration for Market Regulation said in a press release on Friday.
The electric car maker will recall 973,156 Model 3 vehicles between March 4, 2019, and April 29, 2026, as well as 1,956,713 Model Y cars manufactured between November 16, 2020, and April 30, 2026, starting September 25. These vehicles will be subject to a recall because the emergency door handles are difficult to identify and operate, given that they are a similar color to the interior trim.
Separately, Tesla will recall 2,740,642 Model 3 and Model Y cars made in China between March 4, 2019, and December 7, 2025, due to an issue with the driver attention monitoring system. This recall will be effective immediately. The total number of vehicles affected is unclear, as there may be some overlap between the two recalls.
