Azerbaijan is preparing a series of legislative and regulatory changes aimed at stimulating the use of environmentally friendly and safe vehicles, particularly electric transport, AzerNEWS reports.

Within this framework, authorities plan to develop proposals for amendments to existing legal acts in the energy sector, with the goal of removing regulatory and administrative barriers and creating a more favorable environment for electric mobility.

A key focus area is the expansion of charging infrastructure. Plans include the development of technical regulations defining requirements for charging devices and related software, as well as the introduction of unified standards across the sector.

In addition, a draft regulation will be prepared for the creation of a “Unified Charging Service Platform,” an information system designed to streamline and coordinate charging services nationwide. Separate legal provisions will also outline the rules governing the provision of charging services.

Another priority is improving the vehicle utilization sector. Authorities intend to analyze the current situation and introduce measures to enhance the attractiveness and efficiency of this segment.

Relevant documents and proposals are expected to be prepared in coordination with state agencies by the end of the year, marking a significant step toward accelerating Azerbaijan’s transition to cleaner transport solutions.
