Armenian PM resigns

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan announced about his resignation at a government meeting on September 8, RIA Novosti reports.

“I decided to resign and to give the President the opportunity to form a new government,” Armenian media quoted Abrahamyan.

“We need new approaches and a new beginning. We should think about the future and form a new government,” Abrahamyan said at the Cabinet meeting.

Various Armenian experts and opposition members numerously pointed at the fails of Hovik Abrahamyan while he kept the position of the Prime Minister of Armenia.

The indicators of the country’s economic growth showed the negative trend over the past several years, situation in Armenia deteriorated, unemployment rate increased and Abrahamyan is to blame for that, experts state.

Moreover, Armenian media state the resignation of Armenia’s Cabinet of Ministers will also be discussed at the meeting of Republican party and Executive body of Armenia on September 8.
