Azerbaijani karate fighters win seven medals at European championship
Azerbaijani fighters have brought home a clutch of seven medals, including one gold, from the 40th European Cadet & Junior Karate Championships in Konya, Turkey, AzerTac state news agency reported.
The gold medal came from Tural Aghazade weighing in at 68 kg who defeated Russia's Evgeny Plakhutin in the final.
Asiman Gurbanli won bronze for Azerbaijan in the over 78 kg weight bracket.
The Azerbaijani fighters claimed one silver and four bronzes earning the country 7th place in the overall table.
Turkey topped the medal rankings of the championships, followed by UK and Spain.
