Tbilisi says Russia not to impose embargo on Georgian products

By Jamila Babayeva
Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze believes that Russia will not impose an embargo on Georgian products after signing the Association Agreement with the European Union (EU).
The two sides are expected to sign the agreement on June 27.
"Russia doesn't intend to put an embargo on Georgian products," she said. "And this is a real assessment, since I don't believe that our northern neighbor is interested in destabilization of the situation which is likely to happen if Russia resorts to such radical methods."
Panjikidze further said that the work done in the last year and a half after starting the dialogue with Russia will be analyzed and the further prospects for the trade relations with Russia will be discussed during the upcoming technical meeting of experts in Prague.
Russia and Georgia will soon hold expert consultations on trade and economic issues between the sides. The consultations will be held in the context of Georgia's forthcoming signing of the Association Agreement with the EU.
