Kazakhstan to establish geological research center

Kazakhstan will establish a Geological Research Center.

The memorandum on the establishment of the center was signed by Chairman of the board of Kazgeologiya JSC Galim Nurjanov and Director General of Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System Kanat Baygarin in Astanaon February 20, Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Ministry has said.

Speaking at the signing ceremony Deputy Prime Minister and Industry and New Technologies Minister Asset Issekeshev said this center will contribute to the creation of a world class infrastructure in Kazakhstan and scientific research laboratories.

"This, in turn, will lead to a substantial reduction in financial expenditure and time for processing geological materials by conducting analyses in the country," he noted.

The Geological Research Center will comprise four units, in particular an administrative office unit, laboratory-analytical unit, core storage, as well as for pilot industrial and experimental units.

The centre will bring together industrial, scientific and educational potential of the country to develop and implement best practice, innovative ideas, exploration methods and technologies following the example of foreign countries on the basis of Kazgeologiya.

Processing and integrated interpretation of geological, geophysical, geochemical data, integrated analysis, computer modeling and estimation of expected resources according to the international standards are among the main activities of the center.
