Presidential nominee Velayati vows to fight unemployment
Presidential candidate Ali Akbar Velayati said that he will try
his best to fight with unemployment in Iran.
Addressing a crowd of supporters in West Azarbaijan province, the
principlist candidate said that considering the strategic location
of the province the government should work to increase West
Azarbaijan's exports.
The West Azarbaijan province has borders with Azerbaijan, Turkey,
and Iraq.
Velayati also went on to note that reviving the Urmia lake will
boost region's tourism industry.
He further said that Iran is always ready to interact with the
international community, but it will never give up its nuclear
rights under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons
(NPT).
Velayati also said no regional issue can be resolved in the absence
of Iran.
He further went on to note that if he is elected president he will
prop up the national economy through production and
privatization.
The Followers of Imam and Leadership Front of Iran announced on May
29 that Velayati will be the front's favorite candidate for the
upcoming elections.
Velayati is the top advisor to Iran's leader.
He said that he'll form a moderate administration with the
participation of experts if he wins the June 14 race.
Velayati, Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, and Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf are on
the list of the Coalition of Three from the Principlist camp.
Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.
The voters will select the successor of the current President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the
elections for the third term according to the country's
constitutional laws.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national
election and the Guardian Council vets the candidates for
qualifications.
