"Promotion of inclusive education through traditional arts" project has commenced in Azerbaijan.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the ceremony to launch the project.

The project, held under the EU’s “Modernizing the Education System in Azerbaijan through the Involvement of Civil Society and the introduction of Inclusive Education” program, aims to increase access to inclusive vocational programs of children and youth with disabilities tailored to their developmental needs.

The main partners in the execution of the project are the Office of the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve and the Ministry of Education.

The target groups of the project include children, youth and adults with disabilities with formal education background from special schools; youth without disabilities interested to get involved in vocational training on the arts and crafts; trainers and special educators involved into the educational process; staff of the Icherisheher Centre for Traditional Art and selected special schools.

Teachers and artists involved in this project will receive the necessary knowledge and skills to train young people with disabilities together with other young people. Their awareness of the principles of inclusive education will be enhanced through local and international trainings.

The project will contribute to the promotion of an inclusive vocational education model and ensuring equal conditions for people with disabilities in the country.

Moreover, the compliance of young people with disabilities to the needs of the labor market in the field of traditional art will be enhanced.

At the end of the program, the results will be used in the preparation of appropriate recommendations.
