"Music embodies feeling without forcing it to contend and combine with thought, as it is forced in most arts and especially in the art of words. If music has one advantage over the other media through which a person can represent the impressions of the soul, it owes this to its supreme capacity to make each inner impulse audible without the assistance of reason…"

Franz Liszt, Hungarian composer of the 19th century.

The Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra of Budapest successfully performed at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on May 3. The Hungarian musicians conquered the hearts of all music lovers.

The concert featured the overtures of the outstanding representatives of the world's best classical music such as Wolfgang Amadei Mozart, Pablo de Sarasate, Charles Camille Saint- Saëns, Benjamin Britten, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, and also Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov.

The performance of world famous violin virtuoso Jozsef Lendvay has surprised the audience. Lendvay, being one of the most versatile musicians of his generation, combined a gypsy folklore and virtuosity of classical performance.

In his interview to Trend before the concert, Lendvay shared his first impressions of Baku.

The musician was delighted by hospitable atmosphere of the city, and fascinated by the Heydar Aliyev Center.

Lendvay pointed out similarities in Hungarian and Azerbaijani classical music, noting that Turkic culture has had an influence on the development of the Hungarian and Azerbaijani music. “Music is an art that has no boundaries, it is the international language of communication of world cultures,” he belives.

The Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra was established back in 1963 by graduates of the Academy of Music. The Orchestra's very name is inseparably associated with Hungary and its deeply rooted musical traditions.

Widely recognized throughout the world, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra developed a signature image of its own.
