Icerisheher to announce Open Door Day

As part of the International Day for Monuments and Sites there was announced an Open Day for all museums subordinated by the Icerisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve.

All the country’s citizens and guests will have a chance to visit the Maiden Tower, the Shirvanshahs Palace, the religious and architectural complex Syratagly, Tahir Salahov’s house-museum, Historical and Ethnographic Reserve "Gala", Museum of antique objects, as well as get acquainted with a numismatics collection absolutely free on April 18.

All the museums will operate from 10:00am till 7:00pm .

Tahir Salahov’s house-museum is operating in Baku since 2011. Salahov, is one of the most prominent representatives of the Azerbaijani art. The museum features some 735 works from the artist, including his outstanding paintings, personal items, a collection of carpets and photo archive. The three-floor museum has a memorial part. A large part of the exhibition shows the artist’s creative work. The master’s studio is located on the top floor. The address of the venue is Ilyas Efendiyev street, 55.

Historical and Ethnographic Reserve Gala is located 40 km outside Baku - Sulh street, 5. Founded in 2008 in the Gala settlement, the reserve is devoted to the history of the Absheron Peninsula. The visitors can get acquainted with the lifestyle people enjoyed in between the 16th-19th centuries. The complex features cave paintings, gavaldash, pottery, household items, jewelry, weapons and coins, and ancient settlements dating back from the III-II millennium BC. to the Middle Ages.

Maiden Tower, a historical symbol of Baku dating back to ancient times has always been a source of national pride. It is believed the monument was built as a Zoroastrian temple used for fire worshipping, sacrifice rituals and other religious ceremonies. In January 2014, the tower opened its doors to visitors after a major conservation work.

The Shirvanshahs Palace, located in the heart of the Old City is another place of interest which hold many mysteries and secrets. The palace was constructed in the 13th-16th centuries.The palace also has a colorful museum, which will not leave any history lover indifferent.
