Dora Bakoyannis highlights Azerbaijan’s role as bridge between East and West
Former Greek FM, chair of the Council of Europe's Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy Dora Bakoyannis has praised Azerbaijan`s role as a link between the East and the West.
Speaking at a meeting in Athens with representatives of Nizami Ganjavi International Center as part of preparations for the 2nd Global Shared Societies Forum, due to take place in Baku in April, Bakoyannis said Azerbaijan has always played the role of a bridge between the East and the West, AzerTag state news agency reported
She noted the importance of Nizami Ganjavi International Center, saying it can make a profound contribution to strengthening and promoting this role of Azerbaijan.
Bakoyannis also touched upon Greece-Azerbaijan relations.
"The organizing a meeting of Nizami Ganjavi International Center and Club de Madrid in Athens would contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries, and to developing cooperation not only in the field of energy, but also in intercultural dialogue and humanitarian areas," she said.
Athens will host the 2nd High Level Preparatory Meeting of Nizami Ganjavi International Center and Club de Madrid on February 19-21. The event will be attended by former Latvian president, co-chair of Nizami Ganjavi International Center Vaira Vike-Freiberga, director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ismail Serageldin, former Bulgarian leader Petar Stoyanov, and former Romanian president Emil Constantinescu.
