International Mugham Center to celebrate its 10th anniversary

An event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Center’s activities will be held at the International Mugham Center in Baku on December 27, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture reported.
The event will feature an exposition of ancient musical instruments, then interactive screens will be presented in the foyer in front of the busts of prominent mugham masters ("Interactiv lovhalar"). Modern musical instruments will be demonstrated.
The ensemble "esrlerin sedası" ("Resound of the Ages") will perform within the framework of the event as well.
The anniversary event will continue in the hall of the International Mugham Center, where a concert will take place.
Round Table initiated by President of the Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was held in 2005 with the participation of outstanding mugham masters and a decision was made to establish the International Mugham Center in Baku.
On April 6, 2005 President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the creation of the International Mugham Center in Baku. On December 27, 2008 President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurated the International Mugham Center.
Equipments for the building, constructed using the latest technologies, were brought from Italy, Austria, France and Turkey. Over 2000 glasses of different sizes were used in construction. The building has state-of-the-art ventilation and heat systems.
The International Mugham Center of Azerbaijan is a center of Azerbaijani arts and music which aims to promote, preserve and popularize the specific genre of Azerbaijani music, mugham.
At the International Mugham Center young performers learn the refinements of the art of mugham, an important branch of the Azerbaijani music culture. Concerts of eminent mugham masters, mugham evenings, international conferences and festivals are organized at the Center.
The Center implements various projects directed to the propaganda of national music: "Aşıq musiqisi axşamları" (Evenings of ashug music), "Sirlər xəzinəsi" (Treasury of Secrets), "Unudulmayanlar" (Unforgettable), "Etnik musiqi inciləri" (Pearls of ethnic music), "Muğam axşamları" (Evenings of mugham music), "Muğamat var olan yerdə" (Where mugham lives), "Yeni nəsil dəvət edir" (New generation invites), etc.
