Azerbaijani-Spanish business forum due in Baku

By Nigar Orujova
Azerbaijani and Spanish entrepreneurs will come together in Baku for a joint business forum aimed at discussing how to expand cooperation in various fields of economy.
The event supported by the Economy and Industry Ministry of Azerbaijan will be organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).
The forum will take place as part of the visit of Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel García-Margallo that kicks off on April 23.
Spain recognized Azerbaijan's independence in December 1991, and diplomatic relations were established in February 1992.
Trade turnover between the two countries amounted to about $158.4 million in 2012.
Earlier, Azerbaijan's embassy in Spain initiated the establishment of a joint chamber of commerce which aims to increase trade turnover between the two countries, attract Spanish companies to Azerbaijan, take Azerbaijani goods to the Spanish market, organize mutual business forums, trade, and investment missions, and organize other events to promote bilateral cooperation.
