Agricultural co-op in focus of Azerbaijan- Switzerland talks

Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Ismet Abbasov met incoming ambassador of the Swiss Confederation Pascal Aebischer, Regional Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office Rudolf Schoch and his deputy Matias Feldman to discuss prospects for cooperation between the two countries on agriculture, AzerTag state news agency reported.

The minister highlighted the accomplishments Azerbaijan had achieved in the agrarian area as a result of successful economic policy founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev and effectively continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

Abbasov also lauded the Swiss government`s contribution to supporting advanced agrarian measures carried out by the Azerbaijani government.

He also spoke of Azerbaijan`s cooperation with international organizations, stressing FAO`s "Capacity Building in Rural Development for Internal Displaced Person (IDP) and Refugees in New Settlements of Aghdam District - Azerbaijan" project co-funded by the governments of Azerbaijan and Switzerland.

Mr Abbasov said the two countries agreed eight types of veterinary certificates to simplify the trading of livestock products.

The Swiss ambassador vowed to spare no efforts to contribute to further developing the bilateral cooperation.
