North-South project to reduce time of delivery of Russian grain to Iran almost threefold
The implementation of the North-South project from 16 to 5-6 days will reduce the time of delivery of Russian grain to Iran and other countries of the Caspian region almost threefold., said Vice-President of RusTransCom Oleg Rogachev during the Second World Grain Forum in Sochi, Russia.
According to Rogachev, the North-South project will help save considerably, because the railroad will provide the service, a much shorter time-bound. "For 5-6 days we will be able to enter the Iranian territory through Azerbaijan with significant savings," he said, Azertac reported.
Today grain shipments to Iran via the Caspian Sea take 16 days, through the Black Sea region from 30 to 36 days. Deliveries to Azerbaijan by rail, which take an average of eight days, will take 3-4 days, according to Rogachev.
