Poland is keen on developing its relationship with Azerbaijan, Polish Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Marek Sawicki said at a meeting with Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Artur Rasizade on November 4.

"Poland attaches particular importance to its relations with Azerbaijan on all fronts, including agriculture," he said.

Sawicki also noted his visit to Azerbaijan aims to explore ways to build "more effective" cooperation with Azerbaijani counterparts.

Rasizade, for his part, hailed political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries and stressed the importance of developing cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Rasizade also referred to the necessity of strengthening a legal framework of agricultural cooperation, saying the two countries should increase each other's awareness of their products, deepen their bilateral trade and cooperation in training personnel, and hold different workshops involving specialists.

As part of his visit to Baku, the Polish minister also met with Azerbaijan's Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev. During the meeting, the two sides explored ways of developing cooperation in agrarian field.

The sides also exchanged views on the current state of economic relations.

Mustafayev stressed the importance of the Polish delegation's visit to Azerbaijan in terms of the development of bilateral relations.

"A legal framework has already been established between the two countries," he added.

He also expressed confidence that holding meetings between the two countries' businessmen would be fruitful in terms of expansion of business relations.

Poland recognized Azerbaijan's independence on December 27, 1991. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on February 21, 1992.

The trade turnover between them amounted to 62.9 million mantas in the first nine months of 2014.
